This September, the design tour of 2020 Beijing International Design Week set sail again. With the theme of The Dimension of Livelihood, it guides the creative design to integrate with the urban construction, cultural development, technological innovation, and life aesthetics. It also guides the designers to meticulously combine the creativity with the people's multi-level, wide-ranging, and full-dimensional needs for a better life, so as to further release the value of design in the national life and promote the high-quality, refined, and brand-based development of the related industries.
As the Fengtai branch of the 2020 Beijing International Design Week Design Tour, the 2nd Pomegranate Design Festival kicked off recently in the Stamford Plaza, Pomegranate Center. This year, it’s the first time for the Pomegranate Center to organize the the Pomegranate Design Festival together with Rologo. Focusing on technology, design, culture and people's livelihood, they will carry out multi-form, multi-dimensional, high-standard cross-border communication and collision integration, to promote the integration of design and technology, enable the scientific and technological innovation to serve people’s lives and realize people’s yearning and expectations for a better life in the future.
01 Technology and art collide, enlightening the smart life
Preparations for this design festival began in August and it lasted for a week from September 24. Divided into three sections of forum, market, and salon, the event focuses on people’s livelihood and showcases the design results of the cutting-edge technology to the public. Through interactive communication, display and publicity, it attracts the public to pay attention to the changes of the cutting-edge technology and design to the future life, and appreciate the artistic creativity of smart lifestyle in advance.
As the highlight of this year's design festival, the robot special event of pomegranate fair is themed of "Creative Technology, Smart Life". Fully open to citizens and integrating the park and the community, it provides a cultural, creative and technological feast for the residents of the south Beijing, and creates a new landmark of cultural life and cultural consumption in the south of the city.
The activities mainly include robot operation experience contest, creative idea contest, technology experience, interactive games and other links. The reporter learned that at the robot market, there would be the aelos robots that appeared in the 8 Minutes of Beijing at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and China's first exoskeleton mecha NK-01 robot, which frequently appeared in major variety shows. In addition, citizens can interact with the soccer robots, humanoid robots, tenon-and-mortise robots, and intelligent educational robots etc. to feel the unique charm of robots at close range. There are also flea market, Internet celebrity food, cultural and creative products stalls which have greatly enriched the spiritual and cultural life of the general public.
While demonstrating and experiencing how technology in the future will change people’s life, the Design Festival held a Future Lifestyle Design Forum before the fair, with the theme of Technology·Art·Design·Life. The forum gathered many well-known artists and designers. The Disney style leader, Jason Bai took Simplicity but not Simple, International IP Creation as the theme, interpreting the trends of the international IP development. On the other hand, Su Dawei, the founder of Dawei Luobo Design Consulting took the theme of Good life scene creator + Lifestyle Proponent, and offered people the cutting-edge design concepts through real cases. He discussed with designers from the scene and more than 30 cities across the country to explore the possibilities of changing the future lifestyle.
In order to help the enterprises settled in the Pomegranate Center Park and the designers in the circle to build an interactive communication platform, the design festival held a design salon themed Creativity·Design. The event invited a number of industry experts in the circle to share with cases on the spot. The well-known designer Chen Weiting takes Professionalism is to Solve Problems Beautifully as the theme, and shared the charm of graphic language combining with years of brand identity and design experience. Sun Xiaohua, the founder of SPDL NY cross-border design laboratory, shared his thoughts on interpreting the expression of emotional value in art, and using multiple forms of artistic creation to the epidemic. Ding Fan, a member of the International Graphic Design Alliance AGI and the founder of UDL, explored the changes in the role of design in people's lives from the perspective of globalization and through sharing some practical projects, with the theme of United·Design·Practice. The launch of this innovation and entrepreneurship experience sharing meeting has established an interactive communication platform for the entrepreneurs and designers, to help more designers to brighten their lives with innovative designs.
In 2019, the Pomegranate Center held the first Pomegranate Design Festival, aiming to bring technology, art, design and other elements to the lives of more residents through various forms of display, interaction, and experience, so that the public can experience the charm of science, technology and art design, realize the intelligence and changes that science and technology will bring to the future lifestyle, and thereby promote the integrated development of the science, technology and cultural innovation industry.
02 Integrating culture and space Leading the trend of innovation
In recent years, the south Beijing has undergone drastic changes. Thanks to various favorable policies, the entire region is undergoing upgrades and changes. The construction of the three-dimensional transportation network with the general aviation linkage of Daxing International Airport has enabled the quick gathering of industries, talents, capital and other factors in the southern Beijing. In the near future, the south Beijing will form an innovative industrial cluster with international influence.
It has become a consensus that the south area will become a new highland for Beijing's development, and the Pomegranate Center just stands on this new highland. As a high-end science and technology park, the Pomegranate Center locates in Beijing's South Fourth Ring Road, and it has shown extraordinary influence upon its launch. This cultural and creative industry park integrates a national-level technology business incubator and a national-level crowd-creation space. It has hosted a number of competitions and activities since its opening in 2015, such as the cultural and creative competitions, creative salons, forums, and roadshows for entrepreneurial projects, and International exchange activities...Every step of the footprint reflects the vigorous development of Cultural and Creative Technology in South Beijing.
Today, with vigorously construction of the science and technology innovation center and the national culture, the Pomegranate Center has greatly promoted the accumulation of cultural and creative industries in South Beijing and helped the further development of the cultural industry in South Beijing through applying for the Beijing International Design Week Design Tour and building the special cultural experience space.
